MP Did the maths on this and knew that BH's prediction was saying th match would be over without the need for final doubles. Well done MP.
Sadly, he also worked out at £1 a game it was gonna cost £42.57 so i am gonna need a cash machine before pool tonight.

I'm not surprised after throwing all your readies at the twix bar prize. Or did you pay for that out of league funds?

I predict we'll romp home just like J&J did last week.
Also predict there may be a new winner of the Consolation shield this season.
Think I should retire based on last nights performance with the bubble gum balls.

we can't win the consolation. Nomads 1 RC 8.
Thanks to J from the Rat and Parrot who cleaned the table put out the match balls and had plenty of the balck stuff!

Not really one to complain, and I know a lot of work goes into creating fixtures etc but could anyone tell me why next week we have pool tuesday, wednesday and thursday night in order to fit in a cup prelim on the thursday before the first round when in the new year 3 rounds of cup games are spread out over 5 months???

Yes I agree with the work rate, but it seems strange to me that we have four byes when instead they could have been used to fulfill cup fixtures.
I dont agree with everything the committee does but will always give respect to those who do the donkey work.

nothing against the people doing the work at all. Just seems a bit mental that fixtures are piling up like this at the beginning of the season when there's so much space at the end.

Look at it positively mate. 3 nights of drinking, playing pool, playing cards and then abusing VI and his chips. Job's a goodun.

Appreciate your comments but Tea Break would you be complaining if you had got through to the next round of the Team Knockout?
The only reason this is on a Thursday is due to the fact I made an error with the dates. I did my best in keeping all fixtures on a Tuesday and Wednesday. As I know many of you would appreciate only doing 2 nights rather than 3 (My wife appreciates it!!). If you actually look at the calender you will find that most Tuesdays are taken up through to the end of the season, also working with the fixtures to complete them in time so I am able to do the next draw and get this out to inform the league of the next round has been taken into consideration to, you will see the competitions spread out reasonably.
With regards to Bye Nights Ringo, yes your correct in having 4 Bye nights but how am I to allocate competitions to fit around just 1 or 2 teams off on a Wednesday night bit silly really trying to predict who will go through and then setting out a night for those teams to play on a bye night!!
It might seem that I am having a groan and moan but the fact is this year you get an extra 4 nights off and what you do with these four nights is up to you, as for the competitions, apart from my little cock up with the date for the consolation cup and mixed doubles there are no more Thursdays being used for competitions so therefore on Thursdays you have gained another free night from pool (if you choose to do something else that is).
Any comments or thoughts are welcome.
Thanks
Hoody

If the bye nights had been cancelled out then the season would have been 4 weeks shorter hence to extend the season to the equivalent length of this year, we could have played cup and consolation cup games on those spare wednesdays.
This not a personal attack on anybody , merely an observation mate. There may have been circumstances beyond your control that meant each team had to have 4 byes a year, I dont know .
I also realise that div 2 has only one bye night and that means only 2 weds could be used for cup matches , but that would release 1 or 2 thursdays for other competitions.
Please do not take this as criticism , it is not . i have done nearly every comittee job there is to do in sussex so i know , and appreciate , how much time you all give up for the sake of the pool league.

Cancelling bye nights would have conflicting issues with venues clashing, therefore we had to include bye nights for this reason. If only two teams played from one venue we would have no issues and a shorter season. Then again if we also only limited the amount of teams that could play in the league this would also help but then we we should be promoting the league to get more interest and this will gain more teams to play in the league.
If things could be more simpler then i'm all ears.
Ringo, appreciate that you have been on the receiving end of most things when on a committee but there are also other individuals who have not. Why can't people just enjoy the season, the league is improving and can only get better.
Offline
Its not the number of teams per venue , its the number of tables mate . You have to look at each table being a separeate entity i.e that each table is at a different venue.
Not asking you to limit the number of teams to the league mate , the more the better.
P.S I have never written out a fixture list so there my be certain aspects not visible to the untrained eye.Logic would suggest it should be okay having said that i am ignorant of the problems that may occur.

If somebody out there knows of a program where you can enter all teams and venues with the amount of tables that are available and is able to generate fixtures which create the shortest season, please could they let me know?
Before the season started myself and Darren spent alot of time browsing the internet to find such a thing. In the end we sat down for 5 hours one tuesday evening till 1am working out the fixtures, whatever we did to shorten the season did not work the only way round it was to give teams a Bye night.
I must also point out that we had to start the season later than normal as the Summer League was a couple of weeks longer. If we had those couple of extra weeks then maybe we could accomodate the other Competition nights on a Wednesday.

Hoody, I think you may have taken what I said a bit personally. I didnt mean it as anything against you, as I know how much work you've put in and assure you I appreciate it. I didnt realise the calendar was full.
So, in conclusion, I apologise if you thought I was having a dig at you personally, but I wasnt.......... Although you are a girl and you smell.

I will ask around.
Taking into account what you are saying, does this mean that it will be more difficult to welcome more teams to the league?
Years ago we used to have 60+ teams , maybe Terry has some inside info that could help the situation.
